Nesco/American Harvest offers a variety of food dehydrators and recipe books for those looking to start dehydrating food, whether it’s fruits, vegetable, flowers, herbs or venison.

The Snackmaster Pro is the newest addition to the Nesco/American Harvest line of products. This stylish gray and marble-colored food dehydrator makes it possible to dry fruits, vegetables and jerky in hours instead of days.

The Snackmaster Pro features an adjustable thermostat that allows you to dry foods at different temperatures between 95 degrees to 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The dehydrator comes with five trays that are 13 1/2 inches in diameter. You can expand the unit to 12 trays if you’re willing to buy those additional trays. Expanding the dehydrator’s capacity and adding additional trays allocates space for drying larger quantities of food at one time.

The top-mounted fan and 600 watts of power assist in the drying process and keep liquids from dripping into the heat chamber. Flavors won???t mix because of this and there is no need to move or rotate trays. You can easily clean the trays with warm, soapy water or on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Unlike most food dehydrators, the Snackmaster Pro uses a drying system that allows fruits, vegetables and jerky to dry in hours. It does this by sending air down a specialized chamber, then sends it across each tray.

Since food drying is a great way to preserve fruit, vegetables, herbs and animal proteins, the opaque exterior helps block light, so food retains more nutrients during drying. Also included with this model is a 52-page recipe book, instruction book, Original Jerky Spice, two flexible screens for sticky food and two fruit roll sheets, which help dry semi-liquids. You also have the option to purchase jerky kits or more jerky seasonings.

Using the Snackmaster Pro means drying a variety of food in hours. You can make beef jerky, trail mix, dried soup mixes and dried fruit to save time and money. The length of time to dry food depends on the amount of food being dried, the type of food and the dehydrator’s capabilities.
